i'm back, i'm back!

Yikes, my bad... slacker since May w/ this blog, but thankfully not w/ working out in general, lol.

Very much back invested w/ bootcamp since May- such an expense in my life that I basically can't afford, but one that is really non-negotiable when it comes to budgeting (wait I don't even do that) and because IT WORKS.

Recently I have made some additions to my typical 4 times a week 30 bootcamp session. I've added Friday, Saturday and Sunday workouts to my life. Saturday bootcamps in Riverside will hopefully stay a continuing tradition, w/ brunch after of course.

Another addition, mini camps- so far I've lead 3 mini style camps to the theatre girls- actually in the theatre. I think some of the staff thinks we are nuts, but good for us utilizing our surrounds (go non-profits!) Also, if I am doing a PM bootcamp I run to Cross Training from the theatre and pending weather or complete exhaustion, I run back.

Okay so some are saying, you are being a crazy exercise woman, but the fact of the matter is this- I was in THE BEST shape of my life this time last year and while I try never to be one to bash my body, I just know where it was.

Let's face it, workouts are my therapy, so bring on more sweat!

Today's workout:

22 min mini camp, all abs.
15 min jog to Cross Training
30 min bootcamp (cardio and abs)
15 min jog back to the theatre

Tunes from mini camp:

Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall- Coldplay
Hot Mess- Cobra Starship
Rolling In The Deep- Adele
Ain't No Rest For The Wicked- Cage The Elephant
Till The World Ends- Britney Spears
Say Hey (I Love You)- Michael Franti
Tonight Tonight- Hot Chelle Rae
Give Me Everything- Pitbull (featuring Ne-Yo)
A Beautiful Day- India.Arie

why hello may.

Soooo some challenges I held up and some not so much. Typical.

I made it through Lent- no Starbucks and no shots. Woo! I've actually only have had one Starbucks since, I think I may have helped break my pattern. And still no shots, lol.

I also made it through my April 1-28 challenge of not drinking. Which was so interesting to do, I think I'll do it again the month of May (but after cinco perhaps? hehe). We shall see...

Okay so super super bad- I hadn't worked out in 2 weeks until tonight. SUPER BAD. I haven't felt great the last two days, so I figured to snap out of it I should just throw myself back into a boot camp. Which worked! Great workout focusing on arms and abs- and I feel MUCH better. Already sore of course, but feeling more like myself.

I did however slack on the playlist tonight, which I will say wasn't horrible (Chris) ;) But I'm watching The Voice right now, love it, and I love Cee-Loo... so download some of his tunes to add to your work outs. Maybe some Maroon 5 while you are at it.

Stay motivated.

day 13 :)

Well bad news, I don't have any good play lists from the last 5 days- but no worries I will have some musical ideas to share.

My last post was Friday's run- so picking up from there I went to a pilates class at the Y on Saturday as well as yoga at the Y on Sunday. Both classes had no music because the system at the Y is broken, TRAGEDY for one who is motivated by music. However, the classes are excellent and offer a good change in schedule following intense boot camps. I plan to keep them in my weekly routine.

I've been consistent still w/ boot camp this week (and month for that matter) getting there Monday afternoon (I pretty much hate afternoon bc's, too hot and I'm definitely tired-rough!), Tuesday and Wednesday morning. The boys there like the slow jam mix, which is not my fav and I complain to Chris everyday. I know he loves it. Haha :)

Feeling really good in my 13th day of my monthly "cleanse" - working out everyday and no alcohol. Update on Lent still no shots or starbucks...but caved into using my debit card, over 30 days w/ out it was ENOUGH.

Okay so tunes- I am on a Michael Jackson kick, lately I am finding the music super motivating and of course fun. It's almost like I rediscovered it- so you should too! Also check out Mika for really silly, fun music for when you just need a pick me up.

Hope everyone is having a great week and stay motivated :)

groceries & ipod=expensive

2 lists for today- the Publix shopping spree and then 2mile run...

Sometimes when shopping I like to have my ipod on and block everyone out around me... and I never learn that for some reason I spend DOUBLE the amount I should when influenced by music.

oh let's just add another challenge into the mix...

Holler and HAPPY FRIDAY!

I had a glowing report after Tuesday's boot camp about the music choices...but not so much the next two days. Typical boy (great one day then not so much the next), lol sorry Chris!!! Most of the blame lies in the inconsistent ways of Pandora. BUT that does not mean the work outs weren't killer. Wednesday being arm intensive, it feels like some one punch both of my arms and there is internal bruising... bad ass arms are developing!!! Yesterday I opted to sleep in and catch the 5:30pm boot camp session. I am SO much more and AM session person- it's just by 5:30pm my energy is down and it feels like it is a million degrees in the gym. However, the work out was perfect. 6 different exercises and a dice. Enough said:)

On day 8 of no drinking and still good to go. Funny how in the last 8 days I've been to Dos Gatos 4 times, lol. And on the Lent front- still no starbucks, no debit card and of course now, no shots.

This weekends work out agenda: run tonight, pilates in the morning and yoga on Sunday. Also getting my first massage EVER tomorrow- so stoked.

I'm going to add another music element to this blog for the next 30 days- on Facebook there is a page called the 30 Day Song Challenge and each day represents a different type of song. So here we go, Day 1- your favorite song...

day 01 - your favorite song
I'm going to go w/ my favorite song RIGHT NOW (bc we'd get no where if I really tried to narrow down to favorite song ever)...

Cee Lo Green- What Part Of Forever

the april challenge

Woo! Happy April! So pretty much smack in the middle of Lent and still going strong w/ my "sacrifices": starbucks, shots and my debit card. Okay starbucks because I spend WAY too much money there, shots because they never lead to good things and make you feel like crap and my debit card because I lost it on March 5th and acutally JUST TODAY got my new one. It's been a great money saver, so I might as well keep on w/ cash and checks :)

Okay so lets up the challenge for the month of April, well at least until the 29th (MIAMI time!). So here's the plan no drinking, consistent boot camp NOT missing any M-Th, add yoga at least once a week and keep on running. Easy? Well no drinking will absolutely help ;) Starting the month off w/ a 5k was definitely motivating especially since I BEAT my personal record!!!

My jeans are a bit tight, sooooo that's got me motivated, but doing a mind/body cleanse isn't such a bad idea for me right now.

Here are a few playlists I have to share from my Sat-Mon workouts. I did a GREAT yoga class at the Y on Sunday, so no playlist from that- just imagine the most calm/peaceful music you can think of, and that was it.

4/2 Riverside Run For Cover 5k (30min 20 sec)
How I Roll- Britney Spears
Ass On The Floor- Diddy Dirty Money
Drumming Song- Florence And The Machine
Dancing In Your Dreams- Junior Doctor
Up Up & Away- Kid Cudi
The Show Goes On- Lupe Fiasco
Xxxo- M.I.A.
Everything I Ask For- The Maine
How Far We've Come- Matchbox Twenty
Problem Girl- Rob Thomas
Dog Days Are Over- Florence And The Machine

4/4 6:30am Boot Camp
New Divide- Linkin Park
It's Tricky- Run D.M.C.
Live Your Life- T.I.
B-Boy Anthem- Dobie
Points of Authority- Linkin Park
Maneater- Nelly Furtado
Numb/Encore- Jay-Z & Linkin Park

4/4 30 min/ 1 mile walk on the river
Whoever She Is- The Maine
This Is The End- The Maine
Perfect Girl- Junior Doctor
We All Roll Along- The Maine
State Run Radio- Lupe Fiasco
Lovalot- M.I.A.
Pretty Girl Rock- Keri Hilson
Howl- Florence And The Machine
Kiss And Sell- The Maine
What Part Of Forever- Cee-Lo Green

5k hey hey

The greatest challenge is myself. Breaking through the mental barrier and getting back on the schedule. It used to be no problem getting up at 5:50am to make a 6:30am session, but lately it is quite the issue.

Went to bootcamp tonight and holy heck. It is so evident when I am not consistent w/ these sessions. I made it through the intense cardio/strength 30min and actually was the first to complete it- but I was hurting. Thankfully I am just more motivated by it and want to do better. It really is a theraputic release as well- I'm not usually a fan of going after work, but I had a lot on my mind so it was fantastic for 30 min to just be about me.

Okay so I need do something else that I always love- a 5k. Not doing the River Run this year was disappointing, but I knew I was not ready for it. Races are not cheap, so spending the $$ on something I didn't feel confident in, didn't feel right.

So looking through the Jacksonville Running Event Guide- this Saturday's Run For Cover 5k it is. I just realized that is the last 5k I did, a year ago. UG!!!! Geeze, one year later. And also, that is the one I got my best time on ever. Man, well this will be a great reality check. Anyone down? It starts and finishes in Riverside Park- 6pm. Do it!

I wasn't able to get the music down today, but here are some new album recomendations to add to your workout tunes!

Lupe Fiasco- Lasers
Britney Spears- Femme Fatal

i need of a fitness intervention!

EEK! My last post was March 1st, that's so not okay.

I really can make about 105 excuses as to why fitness/working out has taken a back seat for the last few weeks, but instead let's just move forward. Fact of the matter is, I'm just not where I should be as far as weight, measurements and general level of activity.

I spent yesterday preparing for the week mentally as well as with eating habits in mind. I FINALLY went to Publix for basics while thinking healthy and things that are attainable to cook. (by cook I mean things that are edible, lol).

Today was a good day and really, getting up at 5:45 AM to get myself to a structure bootcamp session is just what my fitness intervention ordered. This morning felt great, looking forward to tomorrow.

Here's a playlist from awhile back I never logged as well as this mornings. :)

Sometime in March:
Murders- John Fruciante
When I'm Gone- Eminem
Po' Folk- Nappy Roots
Fluorecent Addescent- Artic Monkeys
Dirt Off Your Shoulder- Jay Z
Blister In The Sun- Violent Fems
Break Your Heart- Taio Cruz
Frontin'- Pharrell

This morning:
Numb/Encore- Jay Z & Linkin Park
I Wonder- Kanye West
This Life Aint Mine- Keroone
Transitional Joint- Elzhi
Stressed Out- A Tribe Called Quest
One Shine- Panacce
Beautiful- Snoop Dogg
Say It Right- Nelly Furtado

st. johns river runs rock.

The weather was a bit chillier than expected at 5pm...but seriously the best run is along the St. Johns River downtown- the views alone, amazing. Katie, Debbie, MC, (welcome back!) Saul and I went for a Theatre Running club job today. Started out w/ stretching on the stage... I know we are super cool. Honestly, the empty theatre is SO theraputic and just gorgeous. Ran at a steady pace and made my confidence shift up a notch ever so slightly for the Gate River Run.

Tunes:
Just A Little While- Janet Jackson
Give Me A Beat- Girl Talk
Breakin' Dishes- Rihanna
Fantasy- Mariah Carey
Show Me The Money- Petey Pablo
Rock That Body- Black Eyed Peas
Hate- Jay-Z ft Kanye West
Pretty Girl Rock- Keri Hilson

hood run.

So last boot camp session on Thurs- pandora  had some malfunction situations...so no list. Sorry! And I hate to report that until tonight, I hadn't worked out all weekend...however in my defense, I think being in a wedding is a work out in itself- no?

Slacker alert and could NOT wake up at 5:50am this morning soooo I did a neighborhood run tonight, 30 min of cardio- a little over 2 miles. Super nice out.... here were the tunes:

Does It Really Matter- K'Naan
2012- Jay Sean
Can You Hear Me- Enrique Iglesias
King of Anything- Sara Barelilles
My World- Kid Cudi
Ass On The Floor- Diddy Dirty Money

Consistency is NOT my middle name.

So last week I declared I am back in boot camp- and pretty much almost killed myself going to 2 sessions w/ in 12 hours. Gooood timessssss. My muscles are STILL sore from the workouts last Tues & Wed. But I'm okay with that. Here is last weeks play list clearly super late:

2/16
Break Your Heart- Tai Cruz
Soul Symphony- Chuck Love
Generation Lost- B.O.B.
You Shook Me All Night Long- AC/DC
The Future of the Future- Deep Dish
Balmes- Ian Pooley
Hot N' Cold- Katy Perry
Rebel Yell- Billy Idol
Don't Stop The Music- Rihanna

So this morning- camp was tough, but worth it. 9 different exercises, 50 secs on/10 sec rest, 3 rounds. LOTS of sweat. Here was this mornings play list:

Ain't No Rest For The Wicked- Cage The Elephant
Feel Me Flow- Naughty By Nature
Joy Ride- Richard Earnshaw
Stronger- Kanye West
Bringing On Down- DJ MRF
FU-GEE-LA- The Fuguees
Every Girl In The World- Young Money

I also had Chris take my measurements this morning as well as weighed myself. Holy heck so much work ahead of me. It really comes down to getting my mind right. It's been out of whack as far as fitness goes really since October. It's not easy, life, relationships, work, extra work, etc... consistency is NOT my middle name. I was so disciplined this time last year and it's time to take that back.

With the River Run now only 17 days away I am kinda freaking out. I am NO WHERE near where I was last year as far as endurance goes. I have confidence in my running, but staying motivated for almost 10 miles concerns me. I would really regret not going for it, bc for me it's definitely not about time, just the experience and finishing... and of course the medal, ha! I have great friends running and it is not to be missed. So, I must get my butt in gear- GRR 2011.

i heart bootcamp

Day maker- a MUCH need bootcamp session w/ my fav trainer and great campers:) After a 4 1/2 month break from the structure of 6:30am workouts w/ Chris Deroo at Cross Training San Marco, I'm back.

This time last year I was in the best shape of my life which prepared me to KICK the river run's butt in 2010. Well I am definitely not as consistent when working out on my own (clearly, the blog speaks for itself) so, although financially a bit rough, I'm back. I will run the Gate River Run on March 12th, but MUST get my endurance back to what it once was.

Don't worry, I'll still have tunes! I'll be doing bootcamp M-Thurs and some runs during the week and weekend.

So tonight I went to the 5:30pm session to just literally throw myself back into it. Pandora was the tune provider...disclaimer, I have NO IDEA who any of these artists are but excited to explore the music more. These are more mellow, good for reps/strengthening- so check them out. I have requested more rap, lol.

tunes:
Me Myself & I- De la Soul
Coolie High- Camp Lo
Bringing On Down- DJ MFT & Vincent Kwok
The Lights- Nicolay & Kay
Love & Appreciate- Murs & 9th Wonder
Happy Times- Troye
Enuff- Masta Ace
Jazz (We Got It)- Tribe Called Quest

Monday monday monday- what a day, so much going on, so many meetings but MADE myself get to the Y for a much needed run. Went to a bachelorette party this weekend and over indulging was the main course, yikes. Felt good to get back in the gym- I mean hellllo I need to FIT in the bridesmaid dress:)

Well I know 90% of the world wasn't feeling the BEP half time show last night- but they are definitely still in my work out mix. Yes, the singing wasn't the best and yes it was an odd mix at times and yes Usher should have danced for much much longer and Justin Timberlake so should have been included, but BEP can still keep you running!

2/1/11, New Year's Day? Sure!

So I wasn't such a fan of how the first month of the year went. Pretty inconsistent with my work outs and among other things, life was just off a bit. Well, last night I pretended it was New Year's Eve (again) and woke up to a "New Year" for me! Hey, life is full of second chances, right?

Back on the work out train, choo choo.

Yesterday did a very light walk/job w/ Jenn & Deb from the theatre to past the St. Joe building on the riverwalk. It was BEAUTIFUL weather and we ended our cardio w/ a sunset.

Today Deb and I walked to the TU (newspaper building) and jogged back to the theatre. We chatted on the walk and I have a few tunes to share for the jog back. So if your year started off rocky, no worries- today can start a new one :)

Tunes are brought to you by Junior Doctor, my current obsession for fun music. The lead singer and I went to high school together and we worked at Dairy Queen, ha! Very happy for him and his success! So check the band out!

On the radio this morning the gym was listed as one of the top 10 worst places to flirt- excuse me? Not that at 6am I am on my A game for flirting, but I would think the gym after 5 is bumping w/ flirty mcflirtness- no?

what the hell

So maybe I enjoy a "tune of the moment" well, all the time... so the latest discovery- What the Hell from none other than spicy Avril Lavigne. Okay so maybe in college I was a big fan of this young rocker/skat8r/complicated chick and maybeeee I still am.

Yes yes, I did climb in a tree to watch her at the red, hot and boom show at the outdoor Altamonte pavilion and was PROMPLTY removed by a police officer, details, details...

What the Hell is just a super fun dance around your room and sing in the mirror (yes that happened this morning) jam.

It also started off my 2.3 mile run/jog... went for 30 min and then stretched for 10.

The last seven days have been filled with excuses in more than one way- it's too cold to work out in the morning, no time to cook so I'll eat like crap and my fav "oh i'll just text him one more time" maybe he didn't get it? LOL. EXCUSES. My life is a jumble and the last seven days have been just that- workshops, meetings, airport runs, advertising award judging, engagements, parties, work, shows, dinners and on and on and on. Routine is necessary and hard to always stick to.

So tomorrow morning it is back in the routine w/ an AM workout and PM stretch session.

Tomorrow, you'll get some tunes outta me... song for right now... Eclipse, Robyn.

internet interval clocks are wonderful!

Well this little gem, http://www.speedbagforum.com/timer.html, was a HUGE help tonight w/ yoga moves by Jillian (see last night's blog). I won't lie, it took some remedial math and a few tries to figure it out- but I did and boy did it help keep me on track. (what round am I on!? no more.)

Okay so I did put some tunes on... before starting I added some more music to my "sleep", now named "sleep/yogaish" play list, and well... it's a tad bit depressing. I will work on this for next time ;)

tunes:
Are We There Yet- Ingrid Michaelson
If I Die Young- A Band Perry
Almost Lover- A Fine Frenzy
Kissing On At Midnight- Tyler Hilton
If You're Gone- Matchbox Twenty
I Can't Make You Love Me- Bonnie Rait
Lasso- A Band Perry

YIKES! See what I mean, hahaha. I swear they are all great songs, I just need to find some more not focused around lost love or lives for that matter!

In an effort to start mixing up my cardio I tried the stair machine today, that lasted 5 minutes- ha! That machine has always been a mystery to me- so clearly I need to consult a trainer to teach me its ways...

double dose of jillian

Seriously SELF Magazine's Jan 2011 issue is my new best friend and I'm pretending that means Jillian Michaels is my BFF bc she's on the cover.

So instead of tunes I did 5, or 6 I lost count, rounds of the yoga inspired moves by Jillian below WHILE watching Biggest Loser. Get it? Double dose of Jillian...

body makeover moves....

Perfect way to end a rather frustrating day.

discovered diddy dirty music...

Up at 6:30am and running by 6:45am, wooo day 2 success! It really is incredible how AM workouts put me in such a good mood. It was my routine from Oct 2009-2010 and then I just sorta fell off the map and lost myself a bit. Thankfully I found me, whew.

It's not the same working out alone as opposed to being w/ my bootcamp buds- but I am enjoying the Y and the gym experience again.

This month's edition of SELF Magazine is super motivational, ya gotta love Jillian Michaels. I'll be trying out her stretch routine tonight and will post that playlist as well:)

workout:
treadmill- 2.5 miles 30 min

elliptical- 1.35 miles 15 min:
